The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards.This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.

  SVHC is a substance (identified by the European Chemicals Agency) that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. SVHC are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:
  1.  Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC or in category 1a or 1b in accordance with EC No 1272/2008This directive was recently replaced by the new EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
  2.  Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, or

      Contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated. May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Causes skin irritation.
      May cause drowsiness or dizziness.
      Prevention
      Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, hot surfaces – No smoking. Do not spray on an open flame or other ignition source.
      Pressurized container: Do not pierce or burn, even after use.
      Avoid breathing vapors or mists.
      Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
      Wear protective gloves.
      Response
      IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or physician. Do NOT induce vomiting.
      IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical attention. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
      IF INHALED: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a POISON CENTER or physician if you feel unwell.
      Storage
      Store locked up.
      Protect from sunlight. Do not expose to temperatures exceeding 50°C/122°F. Store in a well-ventilated place.

      Potential Health Effects
      Eye Contact: Contact may be irritating to eyes. May cause redness, stinging, swelling and tearing. 
      Skin Contact: May cause skin irritation with short-term exposure with redness, itching and burning of the skin. Prolonged and/or repeated contact may produce defatting and possible dermatitis.
      Inhalation: Mist or vapor can irritate the throat and lungs. High concentrations may cause nasal and respiratory irritation and central nervous system effects such as headache, dizziness and nausea. Intentional abuse may be harmful or fatal.
      Ingestion: This product has low oral toxicity. If swallowed, this material may cause irritation of the mouth, throat and esophagus. Swallowing may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness and other central nervous system effects. This product is an aspiration hazard. If swallowed, can enter the lungs and may cause chemical pneumonitis, severe lung damage and death.

      Chronic Effects: Prolonged or repeated skin contact may defeat the skin resulting in irritation and dermatitis.

    • Carcinogenicity

      The components in this mixture have been found to be non-carcinogenic by NTP, IARC and OSHA.

    • Handling information

      Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid prolonged contact with skin. Avoid breathing vapors or aerosols. Use with adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat, sparks, hot surfaces and open flames. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Keep containers closed when not in use. Keep out of the reach of children.  Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials.

    • Disposal information

      If this product becomes a waste, it would not be expected to meet the criteria of a RCRA hazardous waste. However, it is the responsibility of the generator to determine at the time of disposal the proper classification and method of disposal. Dispose in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. 

    • First Aid

      Eye Contact: Flush thoroughly with water. Remove contact lenses if present after the first 5 minutes and continue flushing for several more minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. 
      Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water. If irritation develops and persists, get medical attention.
      Inhalation (Breathing): If irritation is experienced, move to fresh air. Get medical attention if irritation or other symptoms develop and persist.
      Ingestion (Swallowed): Aspiration Hazard. DO NOT induce vomiting. Call physician or poison control center immediately.
      Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, may be aspirated and cause lung damage. May cause eye and respiratory irritation. Inhalation may cause coughing, headache and dizziness. Skin contact may cause drying of the skin.
      Indication of Immediate Medical Attention/Special Treatment Needed: Immediate medical attention is needed for ingestion.
